Years ago I worked full time at a law firm (nts &amp; weekends) while attending Grad School.  The Office Manager got *all* upset when I referred to my grad school work as &quot;work&quot;.  Only what I did at the law firm was work, to her.  But my thought was:  work is effort expended for a payoff at a later time -- a paycheck in 2 wks or an MA in x# of years down the road (it took me 5).  I still puzzle about her reaction.  And totally agree:  work is not a four-letter word.  Thanks Grace for the post &amp; the links!</description>
